Grief and Bereavement Workshop at SU April 26

SALISBURY, MD -- Dr. Ellen Zinner, licensed psychologist and certified grief therapist and death educator, presents the workshop, "Grief and Bereavement: Perspectives and Techniques for Loss Support," on Friday, April 26, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the Wicomico Room in the Guerrieri University Center at Salisbury University.

The second in a three-part series of professional workshops, "Trauma, Loss and Grief: Responding to the Times," the program is an approved provider of continuing education for psychologists, nurses, counselors and social workers.

Zinner's workshop is designed to identify the breadth of losses that engender a grief response and to examine in detail a model of grief that demonstrates both the typical characteristics of bereavement over time and tasks that need to be addressed to move toward grief resolution.

Grief counseling techniques that apply to normal bereavement will be highlighted. Social, situation and psychological factors complicating this natural human process will also be discussed. The workshop will conclude with a model and approach to group survivorship used for supporting organizations facing loss.

Zinner has been teaching, lecturing and counseling in the field of grief and loss for 30 years.

Cost of the workshop is $90 and includes continental breakfast. The program is sponsored by Salisbury University and SU's Department of Psychology and Center for Professional Development.

The final workshop in the series, "Confronting Traumatic Losses: Adolescents and Youth" with Dr. Terry Martin, is on June 7.
