Guerrieri Art Space Features Works by Madelyne Adams July 7-August 28
SALISBURY, MD---The Guerrieri University Center Art Space hosts the exhibit “Out of Reach” by Salisbury University alumna Madelyne Adams from July 7-August 28.
The Eastern Shore native earned her B.A. in art and psychology from SU in 2012. Interested in art since she was a child, her focus is the human body.
“Aside from speaking, we gather extra information through facial expressions, hand gestures and body language,” she said. “Using the body heightens our means of communication. It also can communicate through representation. Like an interpretive dance, the movement and positioning of the figures represents their emotions and intent. A story is told without words.
“In a painting, only a moment of the dance is captured and frozen in place; what came before and after is assumed from that one pose. The feelings of that moment remain in place, and a story is derived between the viewer and the painting. In this series, the figures symbolize how one feels when out of reach and in varying situations.”
The Art Space is located in the Guerrieri Center’s second-floor concourse. Admission is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-543-6247 or visit the Art Space website at https://www.salisbury.edu/guc/artspace.
