Healthy U Holds Run/Walk Saturday, April 24
SALISBURY, MD---Healthy U of Delmarva holds a 5K run and 1-mile non-competitive walk on Saturday, April 24.
The event begins and ends at Salisbury University’s track and field complex on Wayne Street. Check-in is 7:30 a.m. and the event starts at 8:30 a.m.
“Healthy U encourages making daily behavior changes to live longer and healthier,” said event coordinator Liz Tollett. “You can try eating five fruits and vegetables a day, not smoking, getting health screenings or exercising more...starting with the run/walk! The greatest reward is a healthier and happier ‘U’.”
Registration for the run/walk is required. Advance registration for the 5K is $20, $10 for participants who are under 18 or who have a student ID. On-site registration the day of the event is $30. The 1-mile walk is free, and children under 12 may participate in either event for free.
Proceeds from the run/walk will benefit Healthy U of Delmarva’s summer camp program, supporting the operation of two summer sessions and providing some 40 scholarships for campers.
“The Healthy U 5K run/1-mile walk is a great opportunity to exercise as well as give back to the community by supporting our local children and helping them learn about healthy living and components of wellness,” Tollett said. “Whether you are running or walking, all participants in the event are supporting a great cause.”
Designed for children ages 5-10, the camp is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 13-16 and August 10-13 at SU’s Healthy U of Delmarva Office, 103 Power Street in Salisbury. Camp scholarship applications will be available the day of the run/walk.
A run/walk registration form is available on the Healthy U Web site at www.healthyudelmarva.org. For more information contact Tollett at 410-677-3270.
