Hip-Hop Ambassador Toni Blackman Performs November 6

SALISBURY, MD---Rapper, poet and actress Toni Blackman, international hip-hop spokesperson comes to Salisbury University as part of The Truth’s Lyricist Lounge Show Saturday, November 6, at 7 p.m. in the Wicomico Room. Blackman is best known for her distinctive hip-hop lyrics and contributions to hip-hop advancement. The U.S. Department of State appointed her American Cultural Specialist and its Hip Hop Ambassador and has traveled around the world to promote hip-hop education and performance. Blackman also founded the “Freestyle Union,” an organization to train and educate upcoming hip-hop artists. She hopes to promote empowerment and self confidence through “freestyling,” an improvisational form of expression. Blackman has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Howard University and lives in Harlem, NY. The Truth is a relatively new social club at SU.
