Human Rights Documentary Screening Tuesday, October 5
SALISBURY, MD---A free viewing of the human rights documentary A Well Founded Fear is 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 5, in Salisbury University’s Scarborough Leadership Center.
The video, on loan from the Wicomico County Free Library, is one of a set of 10 documentaries on a variety of human rights issues. Sponsored by the local chapter of Amnesty International and the SU Spanish Club, the screening is part of an effort to raise awareness of human rights issues and the work of independent film-makers.
The video documents the U.S. asylum granting procedures through both the eyes of asylum officers and foreigners seeking protection in the United States.
All ten films are available for loan from the library, courtesy of the Human Rights Video Project. Project coordinators have recognized the library as one of 50 nationwide to receive funding for the endeavor.
National Video Resources and the American Library Association created the project with funding from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur and Ford Foundations.
