'Ideograms' Exhibit Explores Found Objects Aug. 31-Oct. 7
Thursday August 24, 2006
SALISBURY, MD---Can nature also be a work of art? Dr. James Hatley of Salisbury University’s Philosophy Department explores this question during the exhibit “Ideograms: Tree/Stone/Air” August 31-October 7 in the Garden Room of the Bellavance Honors Center. An opening reception is 5-7 p.m. Friday, September 22.
Hatley’s show consists of assemblages inspired by natural materials, particularly tree limbs and stones he has found in his backyard and beyond. He develops an iconic quality in many of these works, including one suggesting the characters of the alphabet.
The exhibit is free and the public is invited. For visiting hours and more information call 410-546-6943 or 410-543-7635.
