'Managing Depression in Older Adults' Lecture at SU November 30

Dr. Susan Lehmann associate professorSALISBURY, MD---With a baby boomer turning 65 every 8 seconds in the U.S. and the 65-plus age group expected to grow to over 83 million by 2050, health issues related to aging are at the forefront.

While depression commonly can occur in older adults, it is both under-recognized and undertreated, according to Dr. Susan Lehmann, associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and director of its geriatric psychiatry day hospital program.

She addresses these issues during the presentation “From Recognition to Treatment: Managing Depression in Older Adults” at 7 p.m. Monday, November 30, in Salisbury University’s Holloway Hall Auditorium.

Sponsored by SU’s Nursing Department and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for Nursing — Lambda Eta Chapter; MAC, Inc.; and the Johns Hopkins Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program, admission is free and the public is invited.
