Maryland Genealogical Society Seminar held

SALISBURY, MD ---Several Salisbury University genealogical experts presented sessions at the 2002 Maryland Genealogical Society Seminar, "Tracing Your Delmarva Ancestors," held at SU in September.

Rebecca Miller, director of the Nabb Center for Delmarva History and Culture, presented seminars on "Researching Old Somerset" and "Researching Families of Old Somerset: Methods and Sources."

Dr. G. Ray Thompson of the History Department delivered a genealogical research resources workshop on "Putting Flesh on Your Ancestor's Bones" as well as "The Early Settlers of the Eastern Shore of Virginia and Lower Delmarva."

History professor Dr. Clara Small spoke on "Slavery and the Underground Railroad on the Eastern Shore of Maryland" on the area's rich history of the antebellum period.

"Maryland and the Civil War" was the keynote address delivered by SU history professor Dr. Bart Talbert at the opening night banquet.
