SALISBURY, MD---The Edward H. Nabb Center for Delmarva History and Culture at Salisbury State University recently announced that James Hesen son of Robert J. and Deborah E. Hesen of Hampstead is the winner of the Miles-Stevenson Research Prize in History.

Hesen was given the award for his biography of Randall Revell, a prominent landowner in 17th century Somerset County.

Established by a gift from Nabb Center patron Marelyn Zipser, the award is given annually to an SSU student for outstanding family research on the ancestry of Roger Atwood Miles and Arintha May Stevenson, grandparents of the donor. Hesen’s research was conducted as part of his course requirements.

A junior at SSU, he plans to pursue a doctorate in American history and teach at the college level. A member of the SSU Rugby team, he hopes to intern at the Nabb Center in the fall.
