NAACP Chapter Hosts Social and Educational Events
SALISBURY, MD---The Salisbury University chapter of the NAACP is sponsoring two social events and three educational presentations during November.
On Wednesday, November 14, roller skating night will be held at Skateland from 8-10 p.m. A shuttle bus will be available from the parking lot in front of the Guerrieri University Center near Dogwood Village. Cost is $5.
On Wednesday, November 21, a bowling tournament will be held at Cherokee Lanes, starting at 8 p.m. A shuttle will again leave from the Guerrieri University Center/Dogwood Village parking lot. The cost is $5 in advance. For details contact NAACP Chapter President Darren Jackson at 410-548-4494.
Also being planned are three lectures: Anthony Murrill of X2REP on “Music as Strength” about popular music; “Mr. Fletcher,” a correctional officer for Prince George’s County on “The Hidden Truths of Prisons”; and “Mr. Enthusiasm,” a motivational speaker on morale boosting. Times and locations of all three will be announced.
Jackson recently was a featured speaker at an SGA-RSO student enrichment/leadership night at the Scarborough Leadership Center.
The SU chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People meets alternating Thursdays, the next meeting on November 15, at 8 p.m. in the Nanticoke Room. All students, faculty and staff are invited to attend, regardless of race. For more information contact Jackson.
