Pathways, Boundaries & Markers Exhibit at Nabb Center

SALISBURY, MD--  Pathways, Boundaries and Markers, a display of historical maps and surveying instruments, is at the Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture through September 1.

An open reception on Thursday, May 16, at 2 p.m. features the presentation "Surveying the Past Today: Using a Theodolite to Crack a Walnut + or - 5 Acres" by Dr. M. E. Folkoff, professor of geography and geoscience at Salisbury University.

He will discuss the challenges faced by geographers when attempting to reconstruct past land tenure systems by overlaying historic property boundaries on modern maps. This task seems impossible when today's computer technology demands precision never foreseen by Colonial mapmakers and cartographers. The Nabb Research Center is located on the east campus of Salisbury University in the Power Professional Building.
