Pi Gamma Mu named to the Roll of Distinction
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Maryland Gamma chapter of Pi Gamma Mu, the international honor society in the social sciences, was the first to be named to the Roll of Distinction, the highest honor awarded to a chapter, at the annual Pi Gamma Mu Board of Trustees meeting in Omaha, NE, Friday-Sunday, October 24-26.
Pi Gamma Mu encourages excellence in the social sciences. The Maryland Gamma chapter was chartered at SU in 1983 and has been active since its inception. The chapter previously awarded the Roll of Distinction in 2002 and 1999. In 1997, it received the Roll of Merit.
At the Triennial Convention in 1999, Maryland Gamma was also presented with the Outstanding Chapter Award for Social Service Projects, 1996-1999, as a result of working with the Flood Relief Effort in North Carolina.
Each of these awards was based upon decisions of the Board of Trustees after assessing the annual reports of all international chapters based upon their service, service projects and yearly activities.
