SSU Dance Company Hosts Master Class by Bob Rizzo on February 11

SALISBURY, MD---As part of its 40th anniversary celebration, the Salisbury State University Dance Company presents a master class in jazz dance with guest artist Bob Rizzo on Friday, February 11, at 6 p.m., in SSU's Maggs Gym Dance Studio. The cost for the 1½ hour class is $20 (cash only).

This is Rizzo's third visit to the University since 1995 and while on campus he will reconstruct Can-Can a la Rizzo, a work he set on the SSU Dance Company in 1996.

"Rizzo has consistently placed himself in the spotlight as one of America's leading dance educators," said Dr. Victoria Hutchinson, SSU's dance company director. "Most recently, the cover of Dance Teacher magazine featured Rizzo, calling him a ‘teacher's teacher' and spanned his career as a dancer, teacher, choreographer, and producer of the most recognized line of instructional videos available," said Hutchinson.

His work has been seen off-Broadway, in national tours, dinner theaters, cruise ships, commercials, television, industrials and more than 100 summer stock productions.

Rizzo currently teaches dance for the undergraduate drama program at New York University as well as professional classes at STEPS on Broadway. He serves on the advisory board of Dance Spirit magazine for which he written several articles.
