SU Art Galleries Presents 'Line Time: New Paintings by Brooke Rogers' March 23-May 14

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University Art Galleries presents “Line Time: New Paintings by Brooke Rogers” March 23-May 14 at its Downtown Campus.

A reception is 5-8 p.m. April 15 during the Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District’s monthly 3rd Friday celebration.

Rogers, professor of art at SU, combines hard-edge painting with rich surfaces in his latest works. His sensibility is rooted in personal experience living near the beach in his hometown — Ocean City, MD — where light and color reflect from ocean to sky, infusing the atmosphere.

Coastal imagery is filtered through Rogers’ visual language, inspired by geometric abstraction and elements of Americana, including quilts. His patterned tiles are laid out in long bands like the frames in a filmstrip, suggesting movement and the passage of time.

Gallery hours are noon-5 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, noon-4 p.m. Saturdays. Sponsored by SU Art Galleries, admission is free and the public is invited.

In addition, the Academy Art Museum in Easton, MD, showcases Rogers’ works in the solo exhibit “In the Offing” from April 23-June 12. An opening reception for that exhibit is 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 22.
