SU Hosts 'Costumes of the Minorities of China' Film Screening November 13
SALISBURY, MD---The Han is the most populous ethnic group of China, accounting for more than 90 percent of the nation’s population.
However, China is also home to some 55 additional recognized “minority ethnic groups,” each with its own traditional wardrobe.
Salisbury University showcases these outfits with a screening of the film Costumes of the Minorities of China 7 p.m. Monday, November 13, in the Great Hall of Holloway Hall.
The movie features a variety of wardrobes, from the straightforward, unrestrained costumes of the northern groups to the delicate, dainty costumes of the south that combine practicality, ornamentation and culture.
Sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Office, admission is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-543-6271 or visit the SU website at www.salisbury.edu.
