Peter and Judy Jackson Chamber Music Series Presents Minguet Quartett November 15

Minguet QuartettSALISBURY, MD---The Peter and Judy Jackson Chamber Music Series at Salisbury University presents the award-winning Minguet Quartett 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, in the Great Hall of Holloway Hall.

The string quartet takes its name from 18th-century Spanish philosopher Pablo Minguet, who wanted to make fine arts accessible to the general population through is writing — the same approach the quartet takes with its music.

The group has performed throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia at venues including the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., and Germany’s Berliner Philharmonie.

As a champion for premiering and performing contemporary works, the quartet received the 2015 Diapason d’or in Paris for composer Wolfgang Rihm’s “Et Lux” with the Huelgas Ensemble and the 2010 ECHO Klassik Award for composer Peter Ruzicka’s complete works for string quartets.

The Washington Post has called the Minguet Quartett “a well-matched ensemble” and praised its “virtuosity and passion … hair-trigger dynamic contrasts and flawless ensemble interplay.” The Gramophone of London has lauded the group’s “meticulous attention and razor-sharp communication, crisp attacks and fleet bow strokes.”

Sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Office, admission is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-543-6271 or visit the SU website at www.salisbury.edu.
