SU Hosts Two Workshops on "Women and Leadership
SALISBURY, MD---The Women’s Circle of Salisbury University and Maryland Capital Enterprises Center for Women join forces this fall to offer two Power Hour workshops on “Women and Leadership.”
According to a recent report in Forbes, companies are doing much better with women leaders; however, women need more confidence to lead. The topics for this fall’s workshops focus on developing key leadership components needed for success.
Both are 7:30-9 a.m. in the Worcester Room of SU’s Commons. The first, “What is Your Worth? Knowing Your Leadership Value,” is presented by Mary Angela Baker, director of SU’s Center for Extended and Lifelong Learning, on Thursday, September 15.
“Your leadership value is the combination of your strengths, skills and contributions to an organization,” said Baker. “Understanding your value is critical when negotiating, requesting stretch assignments or ‘leaning in.’”
Through this interactive workshop, participants will begin the process of articulating their professional brand and the attributes that make them unique. They also will discuss methods to determine their financial worth as well as identify the key leadership components needed for success.
Cheryl Lincoln Bozick, former mid-Atlantic regional manager for the Boston Beer Co. (Sam Adams), facilitates the second workshop, “Finding Your Voice: Effective Communication,” on Thursday, October 13.
During her 20-plus years with the company, Bozick was responsible for market development and sales growth of over 40 percent. Along with her business partner, Michelle Burchfield, she now owns the MBM Group, a consulting firm specializing in the beverage, alcohol and hospitality industries. She will share her experience and insight on effective communication skills applicable to professional and personal environments.
Admission is free and the public is invited. Those attending do not have to be a member of The Women’s Circle or graduate of SU.
Registration is required. To RSVP, or for more information, contact Stefanie Gordy at 410-677-0292 or skgordy@salisbury.edu.
