SU Libraries Commemorates Banned Books Week

I read banned booksSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University Libraries commemorates Banned Books Week, September 27-October 3, by raising money to buy some of its own.

SU’s library system is hoping to raise $1,000 during the week through an online crowdfunding site. Money donated will be used to purchase some of the books most commonly banned in the U.S., for reasons ranging from strong language to fantasy settings and tropes some find offensive.

These include F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird and John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath, among hundreds of others. SU’s libraries hope to add 26 of those books to its collection.
