SU NAACP President Speaks at King Service January 18

SALISBURY, MD---Dale Graham, president of the Salisbury University Branch of the NAACP, speaks at the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Sunday service at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at Salisbury (UUFS) at 11 a.m. Sunday, January 18. Graham’s talk, titled “My Personal Journey,” addressing the importance of community activism as well as the obstacles he has had to overcome from prison to college, where today he is a senior majoring in political science with a 3.0 grade point average. Graham balances his time between earning a degree, working 20 hours a week, serving the community and being a father to his 2-year-old daughter, Iyana. As president of the NAACP he has led the SU branch to one of its most active years. The branch sponsored SU’s Homecoming parade in October, adding a touch of soul to the event. In November it sponsored an affirmative action debate and cosponsored the lecture by Emmy Award and ACE Award winner Felipe Luciano. It also raised more than $1,000 to help the victim of a local dog attack and honored her rescuers. Graham is a native of Baltimore and a graduate of Loyola Blakefield High School. He is introduced Sunday by his adopted father, Dr. Stephen Plantholt, and attorney Richard Burch, both of Baltimore. The UUFS is located at 2812 Old Ocean City Road in Salisbury.
