SU Nursing Offers CareFirst Graduate Student Scholarship

Care First Blue Cross Blue ShieldSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Nursing Department has been awarded $80,000 in scholarship funds from CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) to support the education of a master’s-level nursing student who wishes to become a clinical educator.

This is the second time SU Nursing has received this prestigious scholarship, said Dr. Lisa Seldomridge, department chair. The CareFirst Project RN III Scholarship is a special program for nurses willing to make a commitment to begin graduate study in spring or fall 2014; complete the program in a timely manner; and teach in Maryland, Washington, D.C., or northern Virginia. CareFirst has committed over $1.2 million in education-related stipends to be awarded to master’s level nursing students over three-years.

The Clinical Nurse Educator track at SU prepares graduate nurses to become educators in colleges/universities or health care settings. Graduates of this track are eligible to take the National League for Nursing (NLN) Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) exam.
