SU's Foust Named Fulbright International Education Administrator

SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Dane Foust, Salisbury University’s vice president of student affairs, has been selected for the prestigious Fulbright International Education Administrators Seminar Program.

Bolstering connections in Europe, Foust will travel to France in October with just 11 other representatives of U.S. higher education.

“The goal is to learn about the French higher education system, share areas of expertise from the United States perspective and develop relationships that could turn into partnerships between SU and French institutions,” he said.

He will spend time in Marseille and Paris, as well as Bonn, Germany, during the two-week program, visiting campuses and meeting with education officials.  

Foust arrived at SU in 2006, serving as associate vice president before taking the helm of the Student Affairs Division in 2011. He has a passion for international education, having served as dean of students for the Semester at Sea program in 2005. He earned an Ed.D. from Penn State University.

In 2015-16, SU was spotlighted in The Chronicle of Higher Education as one of the nation’s top producers of Fulbright Scholars. The tradition continues in 2016-17: In addition to Foust, Dr. Andrew Sharma of Communication Arts received his second Fulbright to teach at the Indian Institute of Mass Communications and alumna Payge Jennings ’14 earned a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to South Korea.

Foust is one of over 20 faculty, administrators, students and alumni from SU who have earned various Fulbrights over the years. He is the second SU administrator to be selected for this Fulbright seminar program:  Aaron Basko, associate vice president of enrollment management went to Japan in 2015.  

The Fulbright Scholar Program is America’s flagship international exchange program. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, it gives faculty and professionals the opportunity to teach and research around the world.
