SU's Russo Appointed to the National HPNA Advisory Panel
SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Marguerite Russo, assistant professor of nursing at Salisbury University, recently was appointed to the national Hospice & Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) Advisory Panel.
As part of an initiative to promote the integration of palliative and hospice care into the U.S. healthcare delivery system, the American Nurses Association (ANA) and HPNA have partnered to form this work group to address this critical issue.
Russo will be involved in developing a relevant joint ANA-HPNA position statement and identifying nursing’s contributions in palliative and hospice care, as well as developing educational resources and an accompanying framework of necessary changes in nursing practice and education to promote enhanced access and use of palliative and hospice services.
Russo joined SU’s nursing faculty in 2014. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, in 2015. She holds dual national board certification as a nurse practitioner in family practice and in advanced hospice and palliative nursing, and maintains part-time practice as a palliative medicine team member at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
