Sarbanes Named to Foundation Board of Directors

SALISBURY, MD --  Billye Parks Sarbanes, an alumna and long-time friend of Salisbury University, has been named to the Salisbury University Foundation Board of Directors.  An entrepreneur and community leader, Sarbanes is a member of the Class of 1962.  With her husband, Tony, she has two children, who also have attended the University.

She has served SU in a variety of capacities, including as president of the Alumni Association Board of Directors.  She also chaired the Alumni House Special Gifts Campaign, which raised more than $100,000.  Sarbanes and her husband have been long-standing members of the President’s Club, which recognizes donors who contribute $1,000 or more annually to the Foundation.  She was awarded the Alumni Appreciation Award in 1997.

A former teacher and business leader in the Salisbury area, Sarbanes also is a member of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Salisbury Committee, the Rotary Club and the Salisbury-Wicomico Arts Council.  She has been honored by the Wicomico County Commission for Women for her activities in the community.

The Salisbury University Foundation, Inc. was created in 1973 to accumulate funds, by gift and investment, and to foster, encourage and enrich the activities, educational programs, athletics and scholarships of SU. It is the intent of the Foundation to promote, sponsor and carry out educational, scientific and charitable objectives for the benefit of SU and its students.

Currently, the Salisbury University Foundation, Inc. manages over $36 million in assets for the benefit of SU. Each of the institution's four schools is endowed, a rarity in public higher education.
