Small and Minority Businesses Eligible for Support

SALISBURY, MD -- Between September 19-28, 2001, small and minority businesses located throughout the state can learn how to get financial support to grow their business.  Community Development Ventures, a 501©3 organization, and the Maryland Small Business Development Center Network, which has 22 offices located throughout the state, have teamed up to introduce business owners to funding institutions, loan officers and others who can help them succeed in today’s business marketplace. 

CDV and Maryland SBDC Network representatives have scheduled a series of events in five districts across the state. Local and state officials will also be on hand to encourage small and minority business owners to take full advantage of $2 million in funding that will be pumped into the state’s economy to assist them with patient capital needed to jump-start or help sustain their business.

On Wednesday, September 19, a press conference and reception is scheduled from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel, 903 Dulaney Valley Road, Towson, Md. (CENTRAL REGION). On Friday, September 21, a press conference and reception is scheduled from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Middleton Hall, 4045 Renner Road, Waldorf, Md. (SOUTHERN REGION). On Monday, September 24, a press conference and reception is scheduled from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the Worcester Room, Commons Building, Salisbury University, Salisbury, Md. (EASTERN REGION).

Beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, a press conference and reception will take place at the Stamp Student Union Atrium, University of Maryland, College Park, Md. (CAPITAL REGION).  Rounding out the week, a press conference and reception has been scheduled from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Rocky Gap Lodge and Golf Resort, 16701 Lake View Road, Flintstone, Md. (WESTERN REGION).
