Spanish Club, OLAS Celebrate Cinco de Mayo
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Spanish Club and Organization for Latin American Students celebrate Cinco de Mayo 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, May 5, on the Henson Hall Lawn.
Cinco de Mayo commemorates May 5, 1862, the day a 4,500-member Mexican militia defeated the French Army in Puebla, Mexico, to halt France’s takeover of the Mexican Empire.
Festivities include face painting, pi±atas, Twister and soccer, accompanied by Latin and popular music.
The celebration features a Mexican buffet with chicken quesadillas, cheese quesadillas, rice, churros and soda. Cost of the buffet is $5.
