Start and Manage Your Own Business at SU September 17

SALISBURY, MD---"How to Start and Manage Your Own Business" is an all-day course to help the new or potential business owner understand concepts vital to start-up success by covering six critical business areas. Sponsored by the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), an outreach program of Franklin P. Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University, the next session is Friday, September 17, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at The Commons, 2nd floor, of Salisbury University. A business counselor discusses the importance and basics of writing a business plan. A business plan template is provided. An insurance specialist helps determine which types of insurance are needed. An attorney provides information on forming a corporation, and the legal reasons to use different types of business structures. A marketing expert shares marketing plan ideas, as well as examples of proven marketing techniques. A banker covers obtaining financing from any financial institution and developing a positive relationship with a bank. An accountant discusses different types of bookkeeping methods and accurate record keeping. This is a wonderful opportunity to obtain a wealth of information from these professionals, all in one day for one low price. This class is held each month at one of the SBDC Eastern Region locations. The fee is $40, including lunch and materials. The deadline for registration is Tuesday, September 14.
