Students Assist Community During 'The Big Event'
SALISBURY, MD---Some 600 Salisbury University students recently united to help the community during their seventh annual Big Event cleanup day, sponsored by the Student Government Association.
During the community service project, hundreds of SU students helped University neighbors with household chores such as raking leaves, cleaning attics and painting. This year, they also cleaned municipal areas including the Salisbury City Park, Downtown Plaza, Salisbury Zoological Park and Fruitland Little League Complex, assisting at 85 job sites in all.
“The Big Event lets the community know that we are here to help them,” said Emma Lewis, SGA vice president of University affairs. “Our neighbors do so much for SU, and this is our way of saying ‘thank you.’ Salisbury is our home, too, and we want it to be as nice as it can be.”
