The Rebel's Heel is on Thy Shore: The Maryland Campaign of 1862 offered October 3

SALISBURY, MD ------The Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture at Salisbury University sponsors "The Rebel's Heel Is on Thy Shore: The Maryland Campaign of 1862" on Thursday, October 3, at 1 p.m. in the Wicomico Room, Guerrieri University Center.

Presenter Thomas G. Clemens, an SU alumnus and Maryland Humanities Council Speakers Bureau member, discusses the political and military dilemmas facing the Union and Confederate governments in the summer of 1862. Using maps to trace the routes of the opposing armies, Clemens weaves an engaging story of the pivotal importance of Maryland in the Civil War and the domestic and international consequences of the conflict.

Clemens is professor of history at Hagerstown Community College. A founding member and president of Save Historic Antietam Foundation, Clemens earned his B.A. and M.A. in history from Salisbury University. He is currently pursuing doctoral studies at George Mason University.
