Two Plays by R. Andrew Heller Read June 22 and 26
SALISBURY, MD---A family crisis and friendship under tragic circumstances come to life this month at Salisbury University as the Bobbi Biron Theatre Program presents readings of two plays by Theatre and Communication Arts Department faculty R. Andrew Heller.
Students in Heller’s script development class read the plays in character and seek audience feedback following the 7 p.m. performances, both in the Black Box Theatre of Fulton Hall.
On Thursday, June 22, students present 86 Proof, the story of a family that has always concealed its darkest truths by living lies. Siblings Jeremy, Rachael and Loretta try to talk through the matter at hand: their ill father. However, they cannot focus on that alone, leading to a weekend of chaos and confusion.
On Monday, June 26, students present Last Night I Flew With Angels. The play tells the story of two women at a hospice center—one a volunteer, the other a patient—who are both lost and lonely in their own right. Together they learn to overcome their tragedies and in the process become close friends.
Admission to the readings is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-543-6229 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
