Wind Advisory Issued for Wicomico County Mar. 15

SALISBURY, MD---The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a wind advisory for Wicomico County and surrounding areas until 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 15.

A wind advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast between 31 and 39 mph, with gusts between 46 and 57 mph. For Wicomico County, the NWS is predicting 25-30 mph sustained winds with gusts up to 45 mph.

Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees and power lines, making electrical outages possible, the NWS said.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a wind advisory for Wicomico County and surrounding areas until 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 14.

A wind advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast between 31 and 39 mph, with gusts between 46 and 57 mph. For Wicomico County, the NWS is predicting 25-35 mph sustained winds with gusts up to 50 mph.

A chance of snow showers follows the advisory period from Tuesday afternoon until Wednesday evening, March 15. Little or no accumulation is predicted.

For those traveling, a winter weather advisory remains in effect for areas north of Wicomico County, including the Mid- and Upper Eastern Shore, until 4 p.m. Tuesday, with snow and sleet accumulation of 1-3 inches and wind gusts up to 50 mph.

A winter weather advisory also remains in effect for areas north of Delmarva, including the Baltimore-Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, until 2 p.m. Tuesday. Up to 4 inches of snow is forecasted. The NWS warns of slippery travel conditions.

SALISBURY, MD---The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for southeast Maryland, including Wicomico County.

Precipitation is expected to begin as light snow Monday evening, March 13, before changing over to rain. Up to one inch of snow accumulation is possible before the changeover across the northwestern part of the county, according to the NWS. Sleet also is likely. On Tuesday, March 14, rain is forecasted until 10 a.m., with additional snow accumulation of less than half an inch. Wind gusts up to 38 m.p.h. are predicted.

For those traveling, the NWS has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for areas north of Wicomico County, including the Mid- and Upper Eastern Shore, from 8 p.m. Monday until 4 p.m. Tuesday, with snow accumulation of three to five inches, and wind gusts up to 50 m.p.h.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for areas north of Delmarva, including the Baltimore-Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, from 7 p.m. Monday until 2 p.m. Tuesday. Four to eight inches of snow and sleet are expected, making travel difficult and possibly producing power outages.
