SU's Merbaum to Participate in Masterclass with Broadway's Amber Iman November 15
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University freshman music major Sophia Merbaum of Perry Hall, MD, has been selected for a National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) MD-DC Chapter virtual masterclass with Broadway actress Amber Iman 5 p.m. Sunday, November 15.
Iman, the Helen Hayes Award-nominated star of the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Man of La Mancha, has performed on Broadway in productions including Shuffle Along and Soul Doctor. She also has appeared off-Broadway in shows including RENT and on national tours of productions including Hamilton, in which she played Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds.
A founding member of the Broadway Advocacy Coalition and co-founder of Black Women on Broadway, she also is the writer, executive producer and star of the short film Steve, for which she earned Best Actress awards at the Portland Comedy Film Festival and Las Vegas’ Silver State Film Festival.
Admission to the virtual masterclass is $10, free for MD-DC NATS members (including SU music, theatre and dance students). Members of other NATS chapters receive a $5 discount. Pre-registration is required.
