Johnny Janosik Inc. Donates Furniture for SU's New Veterans Lounge
SALISBURY, MD---Thanks to a generous donation from Johnny Janosik Inc., military veterans at Salisbury University have a more comfortable place to gather on campus.
The Delaware-based retailer recently provided new living room furniture for SU’s new veterans lounge on the second floor of Blackwell Hall. The space is scheduled to open in 2021.
“We are so appreciative of this donation,” said SU President Charles Wight. “To give our veterans a special place to mix and mingle that’s all their own allows SU to show appreciation for their service.”
“Before getting into the furniture business, the late Johnny Janosik himself was a Navy veteran injured in World War II, so not only do we enjoy giving back to the local community, specifically honoring military service is something that’s very important to us,” said Dan Welch, Johnny Janosik Inc. chief executive officer.
Along with the sitting area, the lounge includes a kitchenette and conference table that will provide a place to study and relax in between classes.
“SU has numerous campus connections to the military, including our Student Military Veterans Association, SU’s U.S. Army Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) students, the Office of Veteran Affairs, and our students, faculty, and staff who are veterans or are currently serving,” said Dr. Dane Foust, vice president of student affairs. “This furniture donation makes the lounge look inviting and will make visitors want to stay and relax.”
With over 250 employees, seven showroom locations and delivery available to Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C., Johnny Janosik Inc. is the area’s largest independent furniture retailer and one of the top 100 furniture stores in the U.S.
