SU Hosts Zibabwean Band Nobuntu Concert October 6
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University hosts a concert by Nobuntu 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 6, in Holloway Hall Auditorium.
The group from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe performs a fusion of traditional Zibabwean roots music, gospel and Afro-jazz. The ensemble’s inventive performances feature pure voices augmented by minimalistic percussion, traditional instruments such as the mbira (thumb piano) and dance movements.
Nobuntu represents a new generation of young African women who celebrate and preserve their culture, beauty and heritage through art. The ensemble believes that music can be an important vehicle for change, one that transcends racial, tribal, religious, gender and economic boundaries.
Sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Office, admission is free and the public is invited. Patrons are invited to utilize Camden Lot F (Blackwell Hall) for parking.
