By SU Public Relations
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University Art Galleries (SUAG) Downtown hosts the exhibit “With the Pulse of a Community (Con el Pulso de una Comunidad),” showcasing works by artist Muriel Hasbun, August 26-October 26.
An artist talk and workshop is 5:30 p.m. Thursday, September 19. A reception is 5-7 p.m. Friday, September 20. A closing reception and discussion with SUAG acting director Jayme McLellan is 2 p.m. Saturday, October 26.
The multimedia exhibition – including photographs, video, archives and sculptural installations – represents Hasbun’s 35 years of investigation toward processing ideas of home, exile, the traumas of war, and the endurance of identity and memory. Based on memories of El Salvador during its civil war, her work coalesces rediscovered artifacts into works of reconciliation in which truths about war and legacy are rendered into new work.
Admission is free and the public is invited. For more information visit the SUAG website.
