SALISBURY, MD--Dr. Wayne Ackerson of the Department of History in the Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts at Salisbury State University recently presented his paper, "The African Institution of Lond, Africa, the Caribbean, and British Antislavery, 1807-1827," at the recent meeting of the New England Historical Association at Stonehill (MA) College.
Ackerson also recently presented "The African Institution and British Antislavery, 1807-1827," at the Midwest Conference on British Studies in Cincinnati.
"The African Institution," Ackerson said, "was the primary British antislavery group in the early 19th century, carrying the abolitionist torch for two decades."
