African-American WWII veterans topic of February 28 discussion

SALISBURY, MD ----Salisbury University continues its spring Brown Bag Lunch Discussion Series at noon on February 28, with "An Oral History: Interviews with African-American World War II Veterans," moderated by Drs. Clara Small and Polly Stewart.

Small is professor of history at SU and a widely-recognized authority on African-American history. She has written Reality Check: Brief Biographies of African-Americans on Delmarva and her article on "Abolitionists, Free Blacks and Runaway Slaves" appears in A History of African-Americans on Maryland's and Delaware's Eastern Shore.

Stewart is a professor of folklore, mythology and medieval literatures in SU's Department of English. In addition to conducting extensive fieldwork in Utah, Idaho and Maryland, she has supervised student folklore collecting for many years and is director of the folklore archives at the Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture at Salisbury University.
