BEACON offers Cross-Cultural Services workshop Jan. 22

SALISBURY, MD ----In response to triple-digit growth among Delmarva's Hispanic population over the last decade, Salisbury University's Business, Economic and Community Outreach Network (BEACON), an outreach entity of the Perdue School of Business, offers a professional development workshop on Wednesday, January 22, on "Cross-Cultural Services on the Delmarva Peninsula."

This half-day workshop will help regional service providers better understand the needs and characteristics of immigrant communities. Topics include immigration and the changing face of Delmarva; culturally appropriate communication practices with the Hispanic client; and healthcare practices among Hispanic populations.

Beginning at 8:30 a.m., the workshop takes place in the Worcester Room, Commons building, and concludes with a free Latin American lunch at 12:30 p.m.

BEACON offers this workshop under the auspices of Bienvenidos a Delmarva, a BEACON-sponsored group of service providers that meets monthly to discuss common issues and challenges in serving immigrants in this region.

Pre-registration is required. For information about this workshop or Bienvenidos a Delmarva, contact BEACON at 410-546-6001 or beacon@salisbury.edu or visit BEACON's Web site at http://beacon.salisbury.edu.
