Children's Ensemble Presents 'A World of Stories' Feb. 5-6

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Children’s Theatre Ensemble presents A World of Stories 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, February 5-6, in the Black Box Theatre of Fulton Hall.

Children and adults alike are invited to see SU students perform stage adaptations of parables from around the world including “The Stonecutter” from Japan, “Why the Sky is Far Away” and an Anansi spider tale from Africa, the Native American “How the Fly Saved the River,” the Scandinavian “The Ash Lord and the Troll,” the Eastern European “The Wood Fairy” and the Aborigine “Bean Fish.”

“It should be a lot of fun,” said director Andrew Heller. “We hope children will leave with an appreciation for the theatre and storytelling. We want to encourage them to go out and read and share the joy of telling stories themselves.”

The cast includes Chelly Choulis, Jodie Fahey, Kendra Jones, Melissa Laur and Karen Muller, each playing multiple roles.

Scenic design is by Karla Elliott, lighting by Karen Muller and sound by Derek Lingle. David Shuhy of the Department of Communication and Theatre Arts and his Theatre 121 class constructed the sets. Sponsored by the Bobbi Biron Theatre Program, admission is $10 for adults, $8 for children and seniors. SU ID holders are admitted free.
