Cinco Estrallas lecture on Gabriel Garcia Marquez Nov. 14

SALISBURY, MD ---Salisbury University presents "Readings from Gabriel Garcia Marquez" as part of its Cinco Estrallas ("five stars") Series on Latin America's Nobel Laureates in Literature on Thursday, November 14, at 7 p.m. at the Fireside Lounge, Guerrieri University Center.

Author of the internationally acclaimed novel One Hundred Years of Solitude, García Márquez is considered Colombia's greatest writers. His friendship with Fidel Castro and his role in peace negotiations with Colombia's leftist guerrilla army (FARC) have earned him international acclaim and criticism. He won the Nobel Prize in 1982.

Dr. Keith Brower, chair of SU's Department of Modern Languages, will lead the discussion in both English and Spanish. Photocopies of the readings are available on reserve in the Blackwell Library. (Ask for the "Cinco Estrallas" file.)
