England discusses research

SALISBURY, MD ---Dr. Richard England, assistant director of the Bellavance Honors Program at Salisbury University, presents two papers at national conferences this November. The first, on the scientific friendships of Oxford Movement leader Edward Pusey, is part of the Individuals and Communities panel at the History of Science Society annual meeting in Milwaukee, WI.

The second, on the metaphysical thought of Victorian biologist George Romanes, is an invited contribution to the Toronto meeting of the American Academy of Religion's Nineteenth Century Theology group.

England is also editing a set of primary source volumes tentatively titled Design after Darwin: 1860-1900. It addresses both well- and lesser-known British discussions of the effect of Darwinism on the argument for God's existence from the apparent design of nature. The set is due out late next year from U.K. publisher Thoemmes Press.
