Current Status of Women in Afghanistan is Lecture Topic

SALISBURY, MD---A leader in the movement for equal rights for women in Afghanistan speaks Wednesday, March 5 at Salisbury University. Dr. Alicia Lucksted, co-founder of the U.S. Supporters Network for the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA), will present a lecture about RAWA and the current status of women in Afghanistan.

RAWA is an anti-violence, pro-democracy movement inside Afghanistan and Pakistan. It has been working since 1977 to achieve democracy and equal rights for women in Afghanistan.

Dr. Lucksted’s lecture will be held 7 p.m. in Henson Hall Room 101 and is free to the public. It is sponsored by SU’s Department of Political Science. For more information, contact Dr. Leonard Robinson at 410-543-6388.
