Dance Company Receives SWAC Grant 

SALISBURY, MD--The Salisbury University Dance Company recently received a $2,000 grant from the Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council. 

The Arts Council described the Dance Company as a “consistently quality organization that dances for the community, and being one of the more innovative of local arts ensembles in terms of its repertoire and its use of out-of-town artists in residence.”

The grant will be applied toward fall semester master classes and the production of the 12th annual Fall Dance Showcase on Wednesday, November 7; Friday, November 9; and Saturday, November 10.

Fall master classes will be taught by Rubenn Graciani, formerly of the Mark Morris Dance Company; Theresa Emmons, director of the Dance Conservatory of Dover; and Kimberly Dyer of the Annapolis Ballet.

Dance Company 2001-2002 executive council officers are Chrissy Moore, president; Molly Beach, vice president; Robin Lewis, secretary; Katie Ferguson, treasurer; Elisa Frank, graphics; Carly Keene, public relations; and Kristen Nelson, SGA/socials. Also 30 members were selected for the Dance Company in recently auditions judged by Judy Binkowski of Salisbury.

In addition to the fall Dance Showcase, the company has or will be performing at the North Salisbury Giant, the SU German Club’s Oktoberfest, the MAHPERD Conference Assembly and the SU Football Homecoming game.
