'Faculty, Folks and Friends' Honors Women's History March 29
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University faculty and staff present a special Women’s History Month edition of the “Faculty, Folks and Friends” folk music concert series 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, in Cool Beans at the Guerrieri University Center.
Performers include Chad Jones of the Music Department, Dr. James Hatley of the Philosophy Department and Dr. Diana Wagner, advising services coordinator for the Samuel W. and Marilyn C. Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies. The musicians perform songs learned from women, songs about women and songs that thank the women throughout history who have strived to better humankind.
Performed on guitars, dulcimers, flutes and even banjos, selections include “Harriet Tubman,” “One Fine Day” (honoring Emily Dickinson, Willa Cather and Emma Goldman) and “The Well Below the Valley,” an old Celtic tune about Mary Magdalene’s meeting Jesus at the well.
