Flash Flood Watch Issued for Wicomico County and Surrounding Areas

SALISBURY, MD---A tornado warning has been issued for Wicomico County. Seek shelter indoors away from windows.

 

4:30 p.m.

SALISBURY, MD---A flash flood watch, issued by the National Weather Service, continues until 7 a.m. Tuesday, August 8, for Wicomico County and surrounding areas.

Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen since noon in many areas, creating minor flooding, compounded by overflowing drainage areas, the NWS said. An additional 1-2 inches of rain is expected.

The campus and surrounding communities are encouraged to avoid driving or traveling through flooded areas and to continue monitoring weather reports.

SALISBURY, MD---The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for Wicomico and Somerset counties and surrounding areas, including Salisbury University, until 4:15 p.m. today.

Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen since noon in many areas, creating minor flooding, compounded by overflowing drainage areas, the NWS said. An additional 1-2 inches of rain is expected.

A flash flood watch continues until Tuesday morning, August 8, with an additional 2-3 inches of rain expected.

The campus and surrounding communities are encouraged to avoid driving or otherwise traveling through flooded areas and to continue monitoring weather reports.
