Haselb?ck InauguratesWorld Artist Series October 3

class=""MsoNormal"">SALISBURY, MD---Music from around the world comes to the Delmarva Peninsula this semester as Salisbury University presents the World Artist Experiences Ambassador Series.

class=""MsoNormal"">Austrian mezzo-soprano Hermine Haselb?ck inaugurates the series 7 p.m. Monday, October 3, in the Great Hall of Holloway Hall, with piano accompaniment by Florian Henshcel.

class=""MsoNormal"">Born in Melk (Lower Austria), Haselb?ck studied voice with Rita Streich at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna. She continued her studies in Germany at the Musikhochschule f?r Musik in Detmold with Ingeborg Russ, qualifying with a performers’ diploma and afterward a singing teachers' diploma. Master classes with Kurt Equiluz, Kurt Widmer, Edith S?lig-Pap?e, Sena Jurinac, Marjana Lipovšek and Christa Ludwig helped shape her singing style.

class=""MsoNormal"">She has performed with many noted groups worldwide, including the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Arnhem and Moravian Philharmonic orchestras, and the Vienna Chamber Philharmonic. On stage, she has performed several operatic parts, including Hansel in Humperdinck's Hansel und Gretel and Mrs. P. in Michael Nyman's The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat.

class=""MsoNormal"">Her musical repertoire includes Mozart’s Requiem, as well as works by Bach, Beethoven, Handel, Vivaldi and others. In 2004 she released her debut solo album, Songs by Zemlinsky, on the Pan Classics label to international critical acclaim.

class=""MsoNormal"">BBC Music Magazine calls her performances “shapely and particulary satisfying.” SwissDisc.ch says simply, “The voice of Hermine Haselb?ck is superb.”

class=""MsoNormal"">All artists appearing in the Ambassador Series are members of World Artist Experiences, Inc., an organization committed to furthering world arts as a universal language for international understanding.
