Nabb Center Open House October 8

SALISBURY, MD--Have you been thinking about researching your family history, but don’t know where to start?  Are you an experienced genealogist who wants to share your research with others?  Then don’t miss the Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture's Family History Month Open House.  The open house is on Monday, October 8, from noon-7 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served.

Please bring family Bibles, memorabilia, photos, old postcards or other historical records, such as Civil War correspondence or military records.  The Nabb Research Center staff will scan these items for inclusion in their digital archives.  Staff members will also be on hand to answer genealogy questions and to provide tips and tricks for doing family research.  This event is free, and the public is cordially invited.

The Nabb Research Center is a repository for documents and artifacts pertaining to the Delmarva Peninsula.  The facility was established as a liaison between the University and the Lower Eastern Shore by promoting research on Delmarva history and culture, as well as serving as a “laboratory” for Salisbury University history students.  Genealogy is one of the fastest growing hobbies in the United States, and the Nabb Research Center is an ideal location for family research.  Visitors will find the largest collection of genealogical materials on the Eastern Shore (Leslie Dryden Collection), over 2,000 microfilms of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia public records, photograph collections relating to the Shore and countless books and documents pertaining to local family history.

Enjoy the day celebrating family history and the Shore’s local heritage.  For additional information about the open house or directions to the building, please call 410-543-6312 or visit the Center’s website at http://nabbhistory.salisbury.edu.
