SU's NAACP Chapter Sponsors September Activities

SALISBURY, MD--The Salisbury University student chapter of the NAACP is sponsoring two activities during September. On Thursday, September 20, all students are invited to an evening at Skateland from 7-10 p.m.  The cost is $2.50 for skates and $1.50 for tickets.  

On Friday, September 28, a Lyricists Lounge Show will be held in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center from 8-11 p.m.  "This multiethnic celebration of musical diversity," said Darren Jackson, NAACP president, is a talent show with singing, dancing and poetry readings.   Cost is $1 with an SU ID and canned good for charity at the door.  UMES students are $2 and the general public is $6.  For sign-ups, call Jackson at 410-548-4494.

A full roster of NAACP activities is being planned for the semester.  Jackson said they include a car wash fund-raiser on October 9, a talent show with X2Rep October 12, bowling night October 22, a talk on life in prison November 6, a diversity forum November 7, a visit by Ruby Reuben of the NAACP November 12, a talk on "Music is Strength" by Anthony Morrell by X2Rep November 14, a lecture by Dr. Edward Morris, SU Counseling Services director, December 4, a prayer breakfast December 8 and an end-of-semester formal December 11.  Events are subject to change.  Please call Jackson for confirmation.  SU's National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is open to all members of the campus community.  For more information call Jackson or e-mail him at DJJ34@hotmail.com.
