Nabb Center awards Miles-Stevenson Student Prize

SALISBURY, MD ---Marc R. Garlock has been awarded the Miles-Stevenson Student Prize by the Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture at Salisbury University.

The Miles-Stevenson Prize, awarded in the spring and fall semesters, was established by Marelyn Zipser in honor of Roger Atwood Miles and Arintha May Stevenson for outstanding historical research by a Salisbury University student enrolled in Proseminar, a history methodology course.

Garlock, the son of Richard and Barb Garlock of Sunbury, PA, formerly of Manlius, NY, resides in the Salisbury area. A 1991 graduate of Fayettville-Manlius High School, he earned a B.A. in psychology from SU in 1995 and is currently pursuing a second B.A. in history/secondary education.

Garlock won the award for his biographical sketch of 17th century Somerset County, MD, resident Miles Gray. His research will be published in the March 2003 issue of Shoreline, the newsletter of the Nabb Research Center.
