Patterson Receives Elmore Nursing Scholarship
SALISBURY, MD---Beverly Patterson of Quinby, VA, has been selected as the recipient of the 2001-2002 Margaret Johnson Elmore Nursing Scholarship at Salisbury University, providing her with $2,000 over the current academic year.
Patterson, a practicing R.N. in Virginia and a 1986 graduate of SU’s undergraduate nursing program, is enrolled in the family nurse practitioner track of the graduate nursing program at SU. A graduate of Nandua High School, Patterson maintains a 3.0 out of 4.0 grade point average.
“Beverly was chosen based on the belief that she possesses the exceptional qualifications, aptitude and potential for an outstanding career in advanced practice nursing,” said Mary DiBartolo, Department of Nursing scholarship coordinator. “This award should greatly assist her in meeting her career goals as a family nurse practitioner and serving her community.”
The scholarship, established in 1993 by Page Elmore in memory of his mother, is awarded on an annual basis to nursing majors from the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Up to $3,000 a year for up to four years is also available for an incoming freshman who meets the academic and residential criteria.
