Public Radio Delmarva Welcomes Marc Steiner, 2BoomerBabes

SALISBURY, MD---Three familiar voices are coming to Public Radio Delmarva this fall as popular Baltimore radio personality Marc Steiner and 2BoomerBabes Radio Hour hosts Kathy Bernard and Barbara Kline add their shows to WSCL 89.5 FM and WSDL 90.7 FM.

Steiner’s new one-hour show, On Delmarva, showcases the stories—and issues—that make the peninsula unique. He speaks with scientists and scholars, fishermen and farmers, policy makers and public citizens to paint an audio mural of the farms, forests, waterways and communities that make up the region’s lifeblood.

“I love it!” former congressman, environmentalist and On Delmarva guest Wayne Gilchrest said of the show. “It’s beyond politics. It’s beyond borders. It’s about people, family and community. It’s about the land.”

Noted environmental author Tom Horton joins Steiner on the show each week with stories and commentaries. On Delmarva airs Wednesdays at 9 a.m. on WSDL and 6 p.m. on WSCL, beginning September 22. The program is underwritten, in part, by the Towne Creek Foundation.

Public Radio Delmarva also is the new home of 2BoomerBabes Radio Hour, formerly produced at WCEI in Easton, MD. Bernard and Kline began working in media two decades ago, creating and co-hosting the award-winning Our Kids television series airing in the Washington, D.C., area. After sending their children off to college, they collaborated once again to begin 2BoomerBabes.

The show explores pressing Baby Boomer issues, including coping with aging parents, the returning home of adult children, mid-life romance, health and finance, in a lighthearted manner.

“As part of the largest generation in history, we seek the vast audience of boomers who are traveling the same road and facing the same adjustments at midlife,” said Bernard.

The show is underwritten by AARP Maryland, Shore Health/University of Maryland Health System, The Joint Center and EMA/William Hill Manor. The program’s artistic consultant is Jim Russell of Jim Russell Productions, who created popular National Public Radio programs Marketplace and Weekend America, and helped develop Morning Edition and All Things Considered.

2BoomerBabes airs 11 a.m. Saturdays, following Car Talk, beginning September 18.
